Pure Light Yoga Restorative Retreat

with Cindy Brown and Richard Davis

I am happy to report that our 6th annual Restorative Retreat is booked for November 8-10, 2024 in Manchester VT. We have rented a beautiful old mansion for our use and have booked a wonderful organic catering service to provide delicious and nutritious meals for us.  See below to view the venue. It should be quite special.

This is not an Osteoporosis Retreat (that will be booked for the Spring) but all are welcome to attend as I will accommodate all needs in the yoga.  This retreat will be a calming/healing retreat. Yoga, meditation, laughter yoga, circle dance, meditative and group walks, campfire sing along and chanting with Richard are just some of the offerings. A special addition to the weekend: We are flying our dear friend, Leslie Gillman, out from CA to lead us all in the practice of restorative Qi Gong.

The retreat all in including food, tax, fees etc is $685

The retreat begins on Friday Nov 8th at 3:00 and runs to Sunday Nov 10th at 3:00.

This is a very popular retreat so we only have 2 openings. Most of the group from the 2023 retreat signed up again so that leaves limited spots. If you are interested in attending, I suggest you reach out to me quickly.

Why a Retreat with Cindy Brown and Richard Davis?

Cindy Brown combines her many years as a psychotherapist, Yoga teacher, Laughter Yoga leader, osteoporosis yoga teacher, and meditation teacher to create a deep healing and multi-faceted approach to yoga and spiritual practices. Cindy’s yoga classes are slow, deep and meditative with the goal of increased awareness and peace. She accommodates all levels in her classes and encourages her students to honor themselves in their individual process.

Richard Davis is a retired Professor of Film Scoring at Berklee College of Music, multi-instrumentalist, producer, conductor, and Kirtan leader. Together Cindy and Richard combine their skills to lead a deeply healing, spiritual weekend of rejuvenation and self discovery.

This year we have also added a special treat!! We are flying our dear friend Leslie Gillman in from California to lead us all in a restorative qigong workshop.

RESTORATIVE QI GONG: BREATH/SOUND/GUIDED MEDITATION-Leslie Gillman

In this workshop, we will focus on restoring the body’s natural flow of qi or life force energy using a combination of slow breathing methods, Chinese healing sounds for purging and purification of the organs and ending with a peaceful guided meditation.  Please join me for a deep dive into healing the body, heart and mind with a method you can utilize on your own for years to come.

Why this retreat??  I feel that this retreat is the very best that I have to offer for men and women with Osteoporosis. I absolutely love leading retreats. I dare say it is my favorite thing to do. A retreat can be a life altering experience as it’s an opportunity to fully step away from life at home, turn inward and immerse oneself in healing, calming practices. This can be very powerful. It also helps to be in a lovely, soothing environment. Just being in the presence of others on the same journey and having the opportunity to connect, and support each other is invaluable.

This Osteoporosis retreat is especially poignant for me because as I am helping others with their healing, I too am working on my own healing. In all my research the key ingredients that keep coming to the forefront for systemic health and for maintaining/improving bone density are Stress reduction, digestion/absorption, adequate nutrition, mineral balance, weight bearing exercise, adequate sleep and hydration.

On retreat we will be focusing on all these things. We will practice silent meditation and will also have guided relaxation/meditations. We will cover all the information from the workshop in greater depth. We will be eating in the most bone healthy way – all the food will be prepared to avoid anti nutrients and to provide a healthy balance of nutrients (it will be delicious, I can guarantee that). We will provide the opportunity to walk, sing, laugh, dance and share with each other. We will observe silence at times and allow time for reflecting, journaling, reading etc. We will offer calming meditations at night to prepare for sleep. The yoga will of course be focused on bone health and will be gentle and adaptable for all.
